BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Coventry Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Coventry Township Community Center, 335 E Willowview Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319, to consider the following requests:
2026-22: Craig Pyros, 221 Rohner Avenue, Coventry Township, Ohio, 44319
The applicant requests an “after the fact” variance for the construction of a residential awning; the request is for one rear yard setback variance. The rear yard setback variance is for 4.8 feet which is 40.2 feet or 89.3% less than the required setback of 45 feet (Zoning Resolution Section (§) 6.03.E.). This property is located in a R-1 Residence District at 221 Rohner Avenue, Coventry Township, Ohio, 44319 Parcel Number 1906428, which is a lot of record.
2026-23: Brian Campbell, 889 Anchor Drive, Akron, Ohio, 44319
The applicant requests three variances for the construction of a residential garage; the requests are for a rear yard setback variance, a side yard setback, and a maximum garage area variance. The rear yard setback variance is for six feet which is 34 feet or 87.5% less than the minimum requirement of 40 feet (§ 7.03.E.). The side yard setback variance is for five feet which is five feet or 50% less than the required 10 feet (§ 7.03.C.). The maximum garage area variance is for 1,680 square feet which is 912 square feet or 219% over the maximum permitted area of a garage of 768 square feet (§ 7.03.H). This property is located in a R-2 Residence District at 889 Anchor Drive, Akron, Ohio, 44319, Parcel Number 1910616, which is a lot of record.
